Description
Silver spiral studs inspired by the prehistoric rock art at Llanbedr and etched with the spiral and cupmarks. The prehistoric carved stone is now located in St Peter’s church in Llanbedr, near Harlech. The stone is decorated with a 10 ring spiral and 2 cup marks and is thought to date back to 3000 – 2300 BC.
Myself and my colleague Dr George Nash have recorded the carvings and published a paper on our findings. Having traced the spiral over an extended period we have discovered that more carvings lie below the spiral, one of which appears to have been Christianised at a later date as a ‘tail’ has been added forming a fish shape.
